I agree with Ann Marie, it works either way. To me the sketch reads as a male and female bear. I also liked the tablecloth pattern in the sketch. Nice choice of colors in the final!
HI there - Thank you SO much for your kind, kind comments in my blog...I really like your style - and I think the mustache would be so fun. It's working fine right now, but the little mustache would kick it to the more fun side. Very sweet illustrations here...keep up the great work, and you will find yourself illustrating a childrens book for sure! I'm going to keep plugging away myself. : )
Amazing Squirrel girl! I'm 42 and just started doing art. You're fortunate to have discovered it so young. You have lovely work that's pleasing to the eyes. Check out my blog because I also drewa squirrel... well, someone said it was a chipmunk.
I like the feel of this. Since you are asking, I'll give you my three cents about the mustache. but putting a mustache on the bear makes the bears more individual characters and puts more emphasis on them rather than the cake. Also the mustache makes it a little more formal as a French chef. So if you had the mustache, I think the cake would be a little fancier as well. Without the mustache, it's more like kids making a cake which is in keeping with it being wobbly. So it depends on what you want.
Thanks for the comment on my blog, and I'd efinitely go for the moustache option, too. Don't be swayed by those prejudiced to this particular variety of facial furniture!
Like the wobbly cake, and I'd come down on the side of "with moustache" gives him an air of coolness, a bit like My name is Earl ... what am I rabbitin' on about ... thanks for the kind comment - well must-dash - geddit? oh my aching sides ...
I think it would work either way. he is cute as he is! I like seeing the sketch along with the finish. Nice!!
